Human Rights Commission

The Human Rights Commission is one of the main and strategic commissions of the Afghan International Human Rights Organization that works to protect, promote, monitor, and strengthen human rights. This Commission carries out its activities to promote and support the values of human dignity, justice, equality, freedom, and the rule of law, and works to ensure that international human rights principles, conventions, and accepted standards are respected and implemented.

The Commission assesses the human rights situation, collects, analyzes, and documents information and documents, and prepares scientific research, reports, and recommendations for the protection and strengthening of human rights. It also cooperates and coordinates with national and international organizations in the areas of respect for human rights, justice, and accountability.

The Commission works on documenting and reporting serious human rights violations, war crimes, crimes against humanity, forced displacement, discrimination, torture, illegal treatment, and other actions against human rights, and works to protect the rights of victims and ensure justice.

The Commission also works with different human rights organizations around the world, national and international institutions, civil society organizations, research centers, and relevant governmental and non-governmental authorities through joint work to implement international human rights standards and prevent crimes against humanity.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Commission

• Continuously monitoring and assessing the human rights situation.
• Collecting and analyzing information, documents, and evidence related to human rights violations.
• Conducting scientific, legal, and analytical research on human rights.
• Documenting serious human rights violations, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.
• Providing advice and recommendations to relevant authorities for the protection and strengthening of human rights.
• Supporting public awareness and capacity-building programs on human rights.
• Assessing the human rights aspects of the activities of other commissions of the organization and providing necessary advice to them when needed.
• Reviewing cases referred by the Complaints Commission and providing advice and recommendations regarding them to the relevant commissions and committees.

Documentation of International Crimes and Serious Violations

The Commission collects, assesses, and documents information and evidence related to serious human rights violations, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. The purpose of this documentation is to preserve the facts, support the rights of victims, strengthen the accountability process, and provide reliable information to relevant national and international authorities.
